How Can sore Throat And Bronchitis be Treated?

I have been subscribed levofloxacin for my sore throat and start of bronchitis. I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet, fibromyalgia, arthritis and leg nerve pain, spinal stenosis to say the least. I try very hard to stay positive and only take advill for my pain. I read the side effects of this antibiotic and have only taken one pill and am not taking anymore. Calling my primary drs office tomorrow. What other antibiotic can I be administered in its place

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
All antibiotic do have side effects.Your Doctor will always evaluate the risks and benefits of these drugs before prescribing.Sore throat and bronchitis are mostly caused by viral respiratory infections and will need only symptomatic management. However, bacteria infection or superinfection are possible and will justify the use of antibiotics.Respiratory bacteria infections do respond well on levofloxacin.Since you stared taking it already, you may finish the dose.It may not cause any particular problem. However, you may also try amoxicillin-clavulanic acid or a cephalosporin like fixime since respiratory bacteria infections also respond well on these molecules. No matter which one you chose, i will suggest you try the following:
-Avoid cold, dust and smoke
-Add a steroid like prednisolone
-Gargle with warm salt water many times per day
Hope this will help
Wish you good health
